Cystitis – Symptoms, Types and Cause

Cystitis is the medically coined term for bladder inflammation. In general, inflammation is caused by the infection causing bacteria and it is referred as UTI (Urinary tract infection). Bladder infection is more pain causing and annoying for infection caused people. If the infection spreads along the kidney, then it will lead us to serious health problem. Often the cystitis also occurs as a reaction of radiation therapy, potential irritants, spermicidal jellies, certain drugs and long usage of catheter. Other possibility of cystitis occurrence can be via other illness or abnormalities. Usually antibiotics have been prescribed as treatment for bacterial cystitis. For other type of cystitis, treatment may vary depending upon the cause.

Symptoms: When an individual is affected by cystitis then immediate symptoms will be observed on the urine regulation. Some of the symptoms and sign of cystitis are listed below:

Among young children, it has been observed to have accidental wetting on daytime as the symptoms of urinary tract infection. If the bacteria causing infection increased to spread among kidney we must consult the doctor immediately and some of the major symptoms found in kidney infection include:

Normally, when the person used to observe urgent, painful or frequent urination continuously for more hours or time duration it is highly recommended for doctor consultation to identify and treat the infection. If the person already been caused by urinary tract infection in past, then the symptoms which mimic the previously causes UTI indicate the recurrent UTI and doctor consulting is necessary to analyze the recurrence cause. After antibiotic consumption, if the cystitis patient still has repeated symptoms, then consult the doctor to get different medication for treatment.

Causes: Typically, urinary tract infection can occur when bacteria enter the body via urinary tract through urethra and therein it gets multiplied. Normally, Escherichia coli (E. coli) are the type of bacteria which causes cystitis. There are two major types of bacterial infection which include:

-       Community acquired bacterial infection: This is commonly occurred infection in normal life routine. Individuals not staying in medical facility centre sometimes develop the bladder infection. Bladder infection is more often found in women than men.

-       Hospital acquired bacterial infection: This type of infection is also referred as nosocomial infection. This type of infection can occur when the people have been under medical facility centre such as nursing home and hospital. Generally the infection may occur when the people have been placed with urinary catheter on urethra. Most of the time urinary catheter is prescribed for the people when it is required to collect urine from bladder or as a common procedure for certain surgical treatment or for certain type of diagnosis.
